Trio Timia is dedicated to exploring a wide array of repertoire, from classical masterpieces to contemporary works, always seeking to create an intimate and authentic connection with their audiences. Whether performing on the concert stage, in educational settings, or at community outreach events, Trio Timia aims to share the transformative power of music with as many people as possible.
The ensemble is coached by distinguished violinist and pedagogue Violaine Melançon at the Schulich School of Music. In May 2025, Trio Timia won the bronze medal in the senior string category at the Fischoff National Chamber Competition 2025 at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.
BIOGRAPHIES
Itamar Prag
Itamar Prag began his studies at the Givatayim Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Hannah Shalgi. He attended the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts before earning his B.M and M.A degrees in piano performance from the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music (BMSM) at Tel Aviv University. Prag moved in Montreal in 2021 where he is pursuing a doctorate in piano performance with Prof. Kyoko Hashimoto at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University.
Prag enjoys a vibrant performance career as a recitalist, soloist, and chamber musician. He made his debut at the age of 11 as a soloist with Tel Aviv Soloists Ensemble and has since performed with orchestras in Israel and abroad under the batons of Yoel Levi, Lahav Shani, Alexis Hauser, Frederic Chaslin, Omer Wellber, Vag Papian, and more. In 2019, Prag won an audition held by Maestro Zubin Mehta and performed with the BMSM Orchestra.

June Lee
Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Jueun Lee is a promising young violinist currently based in Montréal, Canada. June’s musical journey is marked by a series of accomplishments. In June 2025, she competed as a quarterfinalist in the Dallas International Violin Competition and recently won the Bronze Medal at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition as a member of Trio Timia. In 2023, performed Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto as soloist with the Paju Philharmonic Orchestra in South Korea. That same year, she joined the 2023–24 Bourgie Hall Mentorship Program with Daniel Hope. Previously, she received the Anna Y. Tringas Award for Violin and won Second Prize at the Mary Lane Memorial Violin Competition in 2021. And in 2020, she was a finalist in the Ronald Sachs International Music Competition String Division. June recently earned an Artistic Diploma, having studied violin under Jinjoo Cho at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music.

François Lamontagne
Originally from Chicoutimi, François Lamontagne began his cello studies with David Ellis at the Conservatoire de Musique de Saguenay and then at McGill University under the tutelage of Elizabeth Dolin, where he has received the “Student Excellence Award” scholarship and the Frank Mills Prize. In 2022, he earned his bachelor’s degree with the distinction of “outstanding achievement in cello performance” and his master’s degree, in 2025.
Passioned about chamber music, he studied string quartet under the guidance of renowned ensembles such as the Alban Berg string quartet, Quatuor Ébène, and Quatuor Danel at the McGill International Sring Quartet academy. François has also played internationally in the Fischoff Competition (USA), the Schiermonnikoog Festival (Netherlands), and the Trondheim Chamber Music Academy in Norway. In recent years, François has served as a substitute teacher at the Conservatoire de Musique de Saguenay, played with numerous orchestras such as the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de l’Agora, the Orchestre symphonique de l’Estuaire, and the Quebec Symphony Orchestra

Recently, it was announced that he will join the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Symphony Orchestra starting in September 2025!
